About

I started working with individuals, families, and groups during my practicum in 2009, being introduced to DBT in a hospital setting and expanded to attending the Behavioral Tech DBT Intensive Training in 2016, which is a 10-day intensive that was hosted in Seattle, Washington, in two separate 5-day trainings with 6 months of team consultation meetings between.

I am involved in and regularly meet with an ongoing DBT consultation team to staff my cases and obtain other expert opinions.

My clients are able to contact me outside of sessions for 15-minute phone coaching calls, designed to aid in preventing further emotion dysregulation through learning how to apply skills in their lives. I will respond within 24 hours.

I am intensively trained in DBT, the DBT Prolonged Exposure Protocol for PTSD, EMDR therapy, and play therapy as I am currently in RPT supervision under Melissa Fleming, RPT-S.

Services

Are you looking to manage emotions, tolerate distress, increase presence, and effectively relate to others in your life? Acceptance and change are both possible and improved with practice in DBT. DBT is a specialized form of CBT, a change-based therapy, that incorporates acceptance strategies based on mindfulness. Marsha Linehan, PhD, was the first person to incorporate mindfulness into a therapy and found it beneficial when added to change strategies, noting that a balance is required to help achieve emotion regulation.

My services are as follows:

  • Individual therapy/phone coaching
  • Family therapy
  • Group therapy

Young Adult DBT Skills Group (18-30)

I offer a weekly DBT skills group for young adults ages 18-30 on Tuesdays from 6:30-8 p.m. in person as well as offer Zoom for those needing to attend live and cannot make it to my office.

Teen DBT Skills Group (12-17)

I offer a weekly DBT skills group for teens on Wednesdays from 6:30-8 p.m. in person as well as offer Zoom for those needing to attend live and cannot make it to my office.

How we meet:

Services are offered both in person at my office in north Austin as well as online via Zoom. Should technical issues arise on either end for Zoom appointments, sessions will be held by phone. A 24-hour notice is required for rescheduling all individual and family therapy appointments without paying for the full rate of the session.

How we communicate:

I will collaborate with other providers on an as-needed basis. Periodic check-ins will be required for parents of teens during individual sessions to keep in communication regarding progress.

Group session agenda:

For group sessions, members are offered a snack/drink, skills manuals, diary cards, and time to check in at the beginning of each group session. The group reviews the previous week's skill(s) and a new skill is taught each week.

Supervision:

Currently accepting LPC-Associates and LMFT-Associates for supervision.

Rates

Individual, family, and intake sessions (1 hour): $200

Group sessions (1.5 hours): $80 per week, payable by the month with one calendar month's notice for discharge

A supportive, experiential group designed specifically for children who have a sibling with special needs, neurodivergence, chronic illness, or significant emotional and behavioral challenges.
